Sankara Eye Hospital
Sri Sankara Health Centre is a Registered Society, a non-profit charitable organization. The center has established a rural clinic at Pammal, a Town Panchayat in Kancheepuram District on the outskirts of Chennai City, about 6 K.M. from Meenambakkam Airport. Started as an outpatient clinic in 1984, the same has been developed into a 120-bed Ophthalmic Hospital.

- A rural outreach programme on eye care with a thrust on villages in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur & Chittoor (AP) districts
This Hospital is an exclusive Eye Hospital to cater to the needs of rural poor and needy. His Holiness of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in His inaugural speech stressed that "Sarvendriyanam Nayanam Pradhanam" and blessed the project.
Kannoli - Vision Saver is a unique programme on Eye care. Rather it is a mission with zeal - A mission to eradicate Blindness in elders - A mission to give vision to the needy and poor folk to bring light in the rural elder's lives.
Kannoli is a rural outreach programme on eye care with a thrust on villages around Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur & Chittoor (A.P) Districts where the core of the activities of the mission is centered. We conduct camps in the villages every week, screen the village folk for any ailments of Eye and identify the people who need surgical correction. These persons are brought to the base hospital at Pammal where the necessary surgery with Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) is performed with the best postoperative care.
All these operations, viz. screening of the village folk, bringing them to the Base Hospital, conducting surgery, post operative care, providing them with food, corrective glasses and dropping them in their respective villages are being done absolutely FREE OF COST. We have performed 45202 FREE cataract surgeries (as on 31.08.2004) covering a population of 60 Lakhs during the last 5 years.
Vanavil
Rainbow, a school Eye Screening programme has been launched since 2000. 8.51 Lakh children studying in various Schools have been screened with the assistance of schoolteachers & various Rotary Clubs, District Blindness Control Society and Sight Savers International. 16345 children were identified with visual defects and were distributed with FREE spectacles, besides carrying out corrective surgeries on 15 children.With the commissioning of the new Theatre complex, the hospital has been equipped to perform 300 FREE cataract surgeries with IOL per week. The average cost for each cataract surgery is around Rs.1250/-

State-of-Art ND-YAG Laser machine for Laser Treatment for Glaucoma and post cataract management.
A-Scan And Keratometry
Reference facility for retinal evaluation/FFA/Retinal laser/Retinal Surgery to advanced retinal centre. Residential Inhouse Physician (24 hrs) to manage patients pre / post operative general medical complaints Well-equipped optical shop dealing with vast range of optical products.

Ultrosonic scanning of the inside of the eye for diagnosis of retinal detachment or vitreous hemorrhage
